Experience: This review covers two different encounters with Kai.
Kai the MASSEUR
A few months ago I had a massage session with him. Being a massage "connesuer" I told Kai that I did not want any "release", and was interested in experiencing his massage technique(s). Well, what can I say - for me he is the best masseur in the world! His technique is a mix of sweedish esalen, deep tissue, taoist erotic/tantric, and body electric methods, all blended together with an amazing intuitive sense. Having dabbled in massage myserlf, I remember how my teacher told me that once you have mastered the technique, you should forget everything and let your intuition guide your hands. Now I know what he meant. Kai seemed to know what part of my body needed attention and what kind. At times he would be working my tension zones in my lower back with a lot of strength, at other times his touch would feel like a feather. After the massage as I walked home for the first time in a very long time I felt like I had been reintegrated into a whole person again. He trully is a 5-Star masseur!
Kai the (sexual) THERAPIST
My second experience with him was in July in Berlin. I set up 6 consecutive appointments with him inorder to work on sexual issues that I had. Again as with the his massages, Kai always seemed to sense how I was feeling, knew what I needed and had the right tool from his therapeutic tool box for that moment.
The core of his work is based on breath awareness (check out http://www.breathexperiencenyc.com for more info) and how it allows you to be trully present in your body here and now (those of you who have to tried to be "embodied" might know how difficult it can be). We did a lot of sensory and breath awareness work. The breath work helped me to become anchored and not be caught up in the endless loops of my restless mind. I felt like I was "at home" in my body. The other part of his work was based on touch. We would begin with a massage (similar to the one described above) and eventually he would take me to those areas of my sexuality where I had my issues.
His approach is never confrontational or cathartic. Again, he would sense what it was that I needed (or he would directly ask me). At times he would work on a certain body part or we would engage in mutual sensual touching or he would blindfold me and take me to the underworld of initimacy & sexuality (don't ask!). Kai is very generous in the level of intimacy that he offers his client but he also always keeps a healthy professional distance. He trully creates a sacred space where you can be present and feel safe in exploring and expriencing your sexuality - this is a rare and priceless gift.
Now that a while has passed and I "objectively" look back upon my sessions with Kai, I can honestly state that this was one of the best decisions and investments that I have made in my life. All my issues have not been resolved, but I have been reconnected with my "source" and even enjoy going down the path of "healing" and reintegrating my self.
Kai's moto is "touch heals" and I could not agree more wholeheartedly.
