Day 1: San Francisco to Santa Cruz, CA

By Daddy

San Francisco, CA to Santa Cruz, CA — Sunday 2,200 bikers started the first day of the grueling 545 mile, 7 day AIDS/LifeCycle ride to benefit the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

Since its inception, AIDS/LifeCycle has raised more than $86 million to support the HIV/AIDS-related services of both organizations. This year, AIDS/LifeCycle 11 is expected to raise more than $11 million for these vital, and often life-saving, services.

Starting at the Cow Palace in Daly City and finishing at Harvey West Park in Santa Cruz. The route on Day 1 offers some of the best scenery and cycling roads that San Mateo County has to offer. The stunning coastal views from hilltops to the ocean are truly Northern California at its best! Tailwinds prevail as they pedal along scenic California Highway 1 with spectacular and breathtaking views of the ocean.
